When I lived in Montreal in my early 20's I had a book called 10000 things to be happy about. I still have that book and every once in a while I pull it out and remind myself of all of the things there are in this world to be happy about. I have started and ended many of these lists in my lifetime. Things that make me smile or happy or just brighten the day. My husband thinks I am crazy but every once in a while I post a big piece of paper on the fridge and title it, 10,000 things to be happy about in the Nigh home. Once the paper is filled with all manner of little thoughts, scribbles and sayings I take the paper and add it into my journal and scrapbooking box that is teaming full of things that should and perhaps one day will be displayed in a lovely organized manner. But until then at least they are in the do not throw out safe zone.
Okay so today I am embarking on new territory, I am starting my "10000 Things to be Happy About This Year" list.
Are you ready? Feel free to join in, make comments, add things that make you happy.
Crocus flowers growing in my garden
Strawberry plants filling in my little berry patch
High Speed Wireless Internet
Black Curtains in my Son's room
Digital Scrapbooking
Elodie's Talking
Emma's Wii Skills
Ryan's Temper (don't ask me why but it makes me laugh)
Dan's Kraft Dinner Making Skills
Richard Playing Guitar
PayDay
this made me happy tonight, I don't know why but I found myself smiling and laughing inside.
As Richard and I sat in the living room chatting about the day and long after Ryan and Emma should have been sleeping I heard a small thud. then another, and another, I looked toward the hallway and saw partially eaten apple wedges on the floor. And while I was examining these apple wedges another came flying out of the doorway of Ryan's room. Richard noticed at the same time and jumped up to see what on earth was going on. We immediately heard giggling, squeeling and scurrying as my two rascals headed back to bed as quick as they could. We never found out why the apple wedges were being launched into the living room but I do believe that there was a challenge issued with some promised reward that will never come to fruition.
I think it reminds me of days when I shared a room with my two sisters and we would dare each other to do naughty things with promises of treats that we didn't have to give. Of course, I was the oldest and I was doing the daring. My faithful followers always carried out my diabolical plans with skill and precision. I admired thier attention to detail and while I didn't have the treats I promised them, I did always have bigger and better challenges for them the next night.
So here are a few more things to add to the list.
I love my Sisters and I am very happy that they still love me!
I love my kids and thier diabolical plots!
